‘PARISH OF HAMPTON WICK
1914 – 1918
TO THE GLORY OF GOD
AND IN MEMORY OF THOSE BRAVE MEN OF THIS PARISH
WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY
1939 – 1945′
This is a memorial in the civil parish of Hampton Wick, erected in a small memorial garden, across the bridge over the Thames from Kingston-upon-Thames.
It mentions God and Country, but not King. It also commemorates the bravery of the men of the parish who fell.
The cross itself has an art deco style and includes the classical motif of the fasces.
